We hiked around Lake Winfield Scott, getting warmed up in the morning sun.  The hike up to Slaughter Mountain went very well...  there are enough former landmarks so to speak that helped us navigate smoothly to the gap and then to the top where we hung out at the overlook and ate lunch. Getting up to Slaughter was a first for all of us.  Though it was a chilly, windy and overcast afternoon (the clouds came in), we cheerfully went about the business of hiking this mountain, and Blood Mountain as well.  Great job and quite an achievement!  We returned to our cars around 4:30 - 5 or so.  It was a full day of hiking in our beloved Appalachian Mountains!
