Write Up:

What a gorgeous day for a hike!  We fourteen were amazed to see such brilliant leaf colors this late in the fall.  The beeches and maples were especially nice.  We stopped occasionally along the trails to to take in the scenery and enjoyed two crossings of the high swinging bridge over South Peachtree Creek.
Sharp-eyed Kokila spotted a great blue heron standing stock-still in the woods by the lakeshore that some of us at first assumed must be a statue.  A few seconds later it was awesome to witness the huge bird's graceful liftoff and flight across the lake.

It was fun having new members Dale, Bonita, Becky and Jeanette with us - also Jeanette's friendly big canine companion Roscoe.  This was their first AOC hike, and we hope to see them on many more Club outings in the future!
