Led on by the weatherman, we expected a cold start to the day, but with blue sky and sun gradually warming things up. We got the cold but lost the sun after an hour. As we got to the top of Tray we were hiking in a cold, wet cloud. Then a nasty wind sprang up. We gave up our plans of hiking down the other side of Tray to the first gap past the shelter, and just looked for a spot out of the wind to have lunch. The amazing thing was how many hikers were on the trail. Even more amazing were the ones dressed for summer. We got back to Andrews Cove, where we had started to avoid potentially icy mountain roads, with 10 miles and 2700 ft of elevation gain under our belt. What an ace group of hikers!
