Write Up:

The event in Arizona is over, but our group of twelve will carry in our minds innumerable memories of a splendid week.  We hiked so many beautiful trails and saw countless expansive vistas of mountains, buttes, plateaus, mesas, waterfalls, creeks, and rocks.

My camera couldn't stop capturing the views of the environment as well as pictures of the group.  Everyone got along so well and enjoyed every day of our time together.  Our special treat for the week was having Alex along - - Lemmy's 22 year old son.  This was his first event, and he proved to be an indispensible member of our group, schlepping luggage, helping us up and down the steep trails and across creeks, and healing our minor injuries with his knowledge of first aid.  The ladies on the hike all fell in love with him and would adopt him as our own son if we could.  He's a calm, cheerful, spiritual young man - - a credit to his mother and father.

Lemmy planned a wonderful event for us, and we all appreciate him temendously.  Because of the 40+ miles we hiked over the 5 days on the trails and some of the difficult technical climbs we encountered (down and up Mooney Falls and Beaver Falls, and the 8 mile hike back up to the Havasupai Hilltop), we changed the difficulty level on this event to a D5. We earned the rating!

Here are the total statistics for the hikes (with the right column for folks hiking 3.5 miles down the Grand Canyon; first column for the folks hiking 1.5 miles into the Canyon):

Total  Distance:                     45.25 miles                 48.27 miles

Total Ascent:              15,154 ft                     16,046 ft

Total Descent:            15,064 ft                     15,970 ft
