Write Up:

We had a fine time together this evening at Piedmont Park and after the hike virtually everyone stuck around for the marvelous outdoor ASO concert!  The weather turned out to be gorgeous for this time of year, with a big full moon rising in the east at dusk.  Our hike included some of the lesser known trails and walkways in the newer NE quadrant of the Park including the Six-Springs Trail and a gravel portion of the Atlanta Beltline.
For the concert we had as promised an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the music on the hillside beside the Promenade lawn. "Kiwi" guest conductor Gemma New and the orchestra did a bangup job with pop classical favorites including Tchaikowsky's Romeo & Juliet and Grieg's Pier Gynt Suite.  A young Atlanta musician wowed the crowd with a double bass concerto backed up by the orchestra.
Thanks to my fellow AOCers - friends both old and new - who made this such an unforgettable experience!  Eva and I intend to post an "Encore" AOC event at Piedmont Park for next Thursday that will be very similar, but of with a different Atlanta Symphony program!
