Write Up:

It was another beautiful paddle Sunday morning down nine miles of the Etowah River, despite overcast skies. There were twenty three of us in the group, including Paul who was attending his first AOC event.

Everyone had at least some prior kayaking experience, but we still had a few unplanned swims on our way down. It didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits, however (pun intended) and we all had a good time and enjoyed the gorgeous scenery.

Like last time, we stopped about five miles down to hop onshore, take a break and hike about 150 yards up to Bear Foot Falls. Trying to coordinate landing 23 boats in a small area of the river bank without any real beach is always a challenge, but somehow we managed!  Next time we plan to bring some rope with us to make it a little easier. The Falls are lovely, and definitely worth the effort.

Thanks again to all who came out and joined us!
