Write Up:

We had a good time together and excellent partly clear weather - even a splendid view of the rising full moon in the twilight near the end of this adventurous hike.  Along the way we enjoyed the rushing rapids and falls of Burnt Fork Creek, swung from a huge beech tree, and even caught a dramatic view of a great blue heron flying along the creek beside us.  It was too cloudy and moonlit to see Comet Lovejoy, but we took the time on the high "observing deck" to point out how to view it from any dark spot on clear nights over the next couple of weeks as it passes slowly northward just above Orion and Taurus.  Thanks to newly active members Sally, Dennis, Julie and Jim for choosing this as their first event with our fine club.  Hope to see you again soon in a "terrific twenty-fifteen."  - Submitted by Charlie, Jan 5th
