Itinerary:
Well folks we done a lot of rivers but lets try a new one. Our own Chattahoochee River. There is an outfitter that will provide everything we need to do it to. Check them out Up The River Outfitters I have reserved 15 individual kayaks of which you can chose from sit on top or sit in versions. This also includes a PFD, paddle and shuttle. Of course a tip after the trip to your outfitters are always welcome I would imagine. The river according to the outfitter is mostly class I and one class II. Of course there is flat water as well and the depth is mostly 2-3 feet. This is a river that will flow regardless so no worries about low levels!!!! The trip will take approximately 4 hours. So we should be on the water by 10:30 and off by 2:30. If you are worried about water releases those occur normally after 4pm and later on weekends. The outfitter learns the time each day from the US Corp of Engineers. First time kayaks should be aware that there will not be extensive time for instruction prior to going down the river. Of course myself and other experienced person will show you the basics if you just ask. There is a possibility that your craft will tip over so your ability to swim is a must. If you are unsure about your suitability for this trip please email or call the trip leaders prior to signing up. After the trip we could get together and find some cheap lunch/early dinner.
