Itinerary:

Come join John and I as we hike and paddle at Sweetwater Creek State Park.  We will start the event with a moderate 5 mile hike through Sweetwater Creek’s hike trails.  We are planning to hike the 3 mile yellow trail (rated moderate to difficult for normal people) , 1 mile red trail (rated easy to difficult), and 1 mile on the white trail (rated easy to moderate).  We will move at a pace of 2.5 mph, so that we may enjoy the beautiful landscapes that Sweetwater Creek has to offer.

After completing our 5 mile hike in 2 hours, we will move out of the first parking lot and head over to the parking lot for the George Sparks Reservoir.  We’ll launch from near the bait shop and of course you can bring your own kayak, paddleboard, raft or canoe for this event (don't forget your PFD).  If you do not have a boat, no worries... this is where you would also secure a $20 – 2 hour rental for your canoe, kayak or paddleboard (these all include a life preserver and appropriate paddle). The rentals are first come, first served, but they do have a good supply. We plan to paddle approximately 5-miles or 2 hours for this event.

The total cost of the event is $5.00 for the parking pass (which covers both parking spots) plus another $20 if you need a boat rental. We look forward to a day of hiking and paddling at Sweetwater with everyone!

Required Items to Bring:

Hiking or atlethic shoes, water to drink, snacks, and $5.00 total for parking (your pass covers parking at the hike trails area and parking at the lake area).  Also bring life jacket, kayak, raft, etc. or rent one at the lake office (cost to rent is $20.00).
