Itinerary:

This is a kayak specific event geared towards kayakers that paddle rivers, lakes and/or sea kayak.  It is not for canoe paddlers or white water paddlers.

Tired or sore at the end of a paddle and wishing you had a motor on the back of the kayak?  Wish you could paddle 10-15 miles but struggle at the five mile mark?  Or, hope to prevent a shoulder injury?

Your TL has attended kayak festivals and seminars with classroom and on water instruction.  He is not ACA certified; however, for this event he will demonstrate proper paddle techniques he has learned.

Obviously, a boat will be need for the paddle portion.  BYOB – bring your own boat.  You should have paddling experience – this is NOT a beginner event; rather a “coaching” event to improve technique.

On shore we’ll cover:

-how to properly size/hold a paddle

-how to launch from shore, a dock and how to exit your kayak upon return

-how to paddle using the forward and sweep stroke

-Short paddle on the ‘hooch.  Plan for 30 to 45 minutes on shore and about an hour on the water.

Required Items to Bring:

Kayak, paddle, vest and highly suggest a whistle and knife
