The weather will be getting chillier, the leaves maybe turning bright, golden hues (somewhere) and old man winter is right around the corner so join us for one of our favorite pioneer camping trips of 2008! Plus it's Jason's Birthday!! Come celebrate with us!! For this trip, we’ll head to the northwest corner of Georgia to Cloudland Canyon State Park. One of the most scenic parks in the state, Cloudland offers beautiful views and two cascading waterfalls at the bottom of a gorge cut by Sitton Gulch Creek. For Cavers, we'll have 2 caves reserved for the weekend. Sittons Cave (easy) and Case Cavern where there will be a 50ft vertical maneuver and will need vertical gear. For Hikers/and dog owners we will hike the 4.8 mile West Rim Trail with beautiful vistas of the canyon and rugged geology. We will have lunch overlooking the countryside some 2000 feet below. Following the hike, for those interested and with energy to spare, we will brave the infamous stairs down into the gorge to view two gorgeous waterfalls cascading into large pools.(Assuming there has been rain) We will have plenty of hot coco and smores to go along with a warm toasty fire along with some other good eats!! NOTE: In an effort to be more environmentally friendly, the AOC will no longer use styrofoam plates or plastic cups. We will recycle all plastics, bottles and cans during our event. Further, the AOC will provide everyone reuseable plates, bowls, etc. We ask for everyone to bring their own drinking CUP and/or mug to wash and reuse during the event. | |||||||
