Itinerary:

Calling all intermediate to advanced hikers for a fun Saturday early morning hike! Come enjoy hiking and getting back home early for more weekend fun. We will start at the Visitor Center trailhead and then take the AT Approach trail to the Len Foote Hike Inn cut-over  trail. After we enjoy our lunch at the Hike Inn, we will take the Len Foote trail. Following a brief stop at the top of the falls, we will proceed back down to the Visitor Center where we started.

Before you sign up for this hike, please make sure that you can hike the posted distance comfortably at a moderate speed with only a few breaks.

Note: as this hike starts at the Visitor Center, it has more distance and ascent than the typical loop hike done from the Top of the Falls. This hike will be approximately 11.6 miles with 3,150 feet of ascent.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $38.40 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:

Sometimes, the Len Foote Inn will share coffee, tea, fruit and other leftovers as snacks for day hikers. If this privilege is available and you choose to take advantage of it, kindly bring cash to tip appropriately or donate.

Your trip leader highly recommends to bring your lunch since the food at the Inn is not guaranteed!

* We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events.

Cost Includes:

Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $38.40 (calculated at total miles (96) * $0.400, effective Tuesday, June 02, 2015). This is based on the current gas, maintenance, and other costs of $0.400 per mile as stated by the IRS & Cars.com. This should be divided by the total number of people in the vehicle (incl driver).
For example: With 4 people in the vehicle, the expense per person on this trip would be $9.60. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.

Additional advice: The cost of your trip is up to your driver. Your cost should not be greater than what is listed above, unless there is extenuating circumstances. If you want to be sure about the cost of the trip, check with your driver before you get into the vehicle. If you are the driver of the vehicle, this is a guideline to what you charge and not a rule.

There is another $5.00 State Park Fee per car, unless you have an annual park pass.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:   Please review the AOC cancellation policy.
