Itinerary:

Arabia Mountain (elevation 954-ft. above sea level)  appears to be seemingly barren until you begin to explore all of its hidden treasures. The mountain is part of the 2,550-acre DeKalb County park called the Davidson – Arabia Nature Preserve. Additionally, the Preserve consists of other large formations of exposed granite, wetlands, pine and oak forests, multiple streams, and two lakes.

This will only be my third hike at Arabia Mountain and as I recall, beautiful landscapes, rock quarry, rare plants like the red diamorpha, and an unusual frog pond at the top of the mountain are among the numerous treasures of Arabia Mountain. The elevation is

The Preserve is considered an ecological wonder that was influenced by man. Additionally, there is evidence of quarrying activities that are demonstrated by the industrial debris on the mountain while abandoned structures provide evidence of storage, offices and shelter for workers. For more information on Arabia Mountain check-out their website  http://arabiaalliance.org/.

In either case, we will be exploring the many treasures of Arabia Mountain on Sunday. We will begin hiking at 10:30am and plan to hike and explore 5- miles of Arabia Mountain’s trails. I look forward to hiking with everyone!
