Itinerary:

Join us for an evening hike to celebrate the Summer Solstice - the day on which the sun rises and sets at its northernmost point on the horizon.

June Solstice in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A. occurs on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at 12:39 PM EDT.  Let's enjoy the longest day of the year with a sunset hike at Stone Mountain.

The sun will set at 8:50 p.m. on Sunday.  The plan is to be at the top of Stone Mountain by 8:30 to hang out and watch the sunset.

We will meet in front of the Confederate Hall restrooms at 7:55 p.m. for introductions before we head to the top to watch the sunset. On the ascent, we will hike at a moderate pace on a side trail, rather than on the heavily traveled walk-up trail.  We will gain about 650 feet of elevation in just over one mile. Your TL and those with strong legs will climb the very steep portion of the mountain closest to the fence, but you will also have the option to connect to the walk up trail at the half way point and use the handrails for the steep section.

We will be walking down after sunset, so please bring a small LED flashlight or headlamp.

This event will be cancelled in the event of severe weather.
