Itinerary:

We'll hike a new little trail off of the gravel path as we enter the woods into Cochran Shoals, covering the middle section of the park and venturing into the Sope Creek area. This trail was opened very recently to take the bikers off the muddy trail by the creek and divert them to higher ground, leaving the original biking path solely for foot travel.

We'll go at a moderately fast pace, but not fitness speed.  The area is hilly, so there is ample opportunity to get our heart rates up.  Given the hot weather, we'll take water breaks as needed.  Be sure to bring plenty of water with you.  NO ONE should be hiking in summer weather without water.  We've already  had a couple of heat-related problems recently . . .  so NO HYDRATION = NO HIKING!

BEWARE:  Riverside Drive at Johnson Ferry is CLOSED for roadwork!  See detour directions below.

We'll meet at the gate to the gravel path, just off the parking lot.  There is a bathroom at this location, so be sure to allow time to use it if you're travelling from any distance.  A $3 parking fee is required if you don't have an annual CNRA pass.
