Itinerary:

This is a BYOBoat Event (no tubes please), and inflatable boats are discouraged unless very sturdy.

Join us for a beautiful in-town paddle down the Chattahoochee.  We leave from just below the Morgan Falls dam and take out at Paces Mill (mile 304), which is a gorgeous stretch taking us past Cochran Shoals, the Palisades and other areas. We will go through a few patches of Class 1 rapids, and it will be shallow in spots, but overall this is a relaxing paddle vs. a challenging one.

The last two times I've paddled this route I've seen river otters and lots of beautiful birds. The last time, I also saw my first muskrat, so keep your eyes peeled for wildlife along the way.

We'll be on the river for over three hours (anywhere from about 10:30 - 3:30-ish), so bring whatever sustenance you need.  Anything goes, but NO GLASS please. We will probably stop at the coffee shop at Chattahoochee Bend to take a break and have a snack/lunch, so it's not a bad idea to bring a little cash as well in case you want to buy coffee while we're there.

Logistics: We'll meet at Morgan Falls to unload our boats. Directions are provided below. PLEASE BE ON TIME (or better yet, EARLY) so that we can shuttle cars in a timely manner and get on the river. : )

At least one of the members, plus anyone else not driving will stay to watch over our boats and gear.  All other drivers will go to Paces Mill to leave their cars at the take out, and one or two as needed will bring us back to Morgan Falls.  A $3 (or season, etc.) parking pass is required at the Paces Mill (West Palisades) end. Please note that at least one of the cars at the take-out will need to shuttle people back to Morgan Falls.

It is possible that we could make good time down the river and finish earlier than estimated in the event duration listed. However, it's not a race, so we will take our time and enjoy the day.

Note: this event will be somewhat weather- dependent. Light rain will be fine and we will go ahead. If there is heavy rain or lightning, however, we will postpone for another day.
