Itinerary:

Part 1 of the Secret Doors event has a huge waiting list, so here's a chance for those who couldn't get on the first hike to see a different set of secret doors in the nearby Oakhurst area of Decatur. The Secret Doors is an art project wherein 32 little doors created by 27 local artists are hidden in nooks and crannies throughout the Decatur area.

For this afternoon's hike, we'll walk through Oakhurst, a quaint suburb of Decatur, where we'll find perhaps 10 Secret Doors hidden throughout the area.  This trek will be south of the railroad tracks, where we'll take in views of Agnes Scott College and "downtown" Oakhurst.

We'll gather at 2 pm in the parking lot of Winnona Park Elementary School.  The school is at 510 Avery Street, Decatur, close to the campus of Agnes Scott College. We'll find a secret door at the elementary school and then continue our quest to locate other doors on our way to the downtown area.

Our pace will be moderate so that we can keep our group together. Some of the streets are hilly, but they should be manageable for anyone who can handle the distance. Bring your camera, as the doors themselves are picture worthy! Each is a piece of art unto itself, reflecting the distinctive style of the artist. They're easy to miss unless you're looking for them . . .  but rest easy - - I've located the ones on our trek, so we won't get stumped.

After discovering all the doors, we'll stop by the Sugar Moon Bake Shop for a cupcake or other treat before starting the walk back to our cars.   (A Yelp review of the bake shop can be found at http://www.yelp.com/biz/sugar-moon-bake-shop-decatur )
