Itinerary:

Join me for a morning hike to the top of Georgia's highest mountain just in time to watch the sun rise!

Brasstown Bald rises 4,784 feet above sea level and its peak looms half a mile above the surrounding valleys. Mount Yonah, Blood Mountain, Rabun Bald, Clingman's Dome, and Tray Mountain are viewable from the top.

We will start at the Visitor's Center parking lot and take the trail up. The elevation gain will be approximately 430 feet and everyone is welcome to go at their own pace.

There is also a meteor shower event earlier this day and Tony has a sunset event the evening before. You are welcome to sign up for one, two, or all three.

Required Items to Bring:

Sturdy footwear.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

Light jacket, camera, water.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

From Blairsville, Georgia take US 19 & 129 south for 8 miles. Turn left (east) onto Georgia 180. Go 9 miles to Georgia Spur 180 and turn left (north). Go 3 miles to the Brasstown Bald parking lot.

Please note, some GPS units may display an incorrect location for Brasstown Bald since there is no physical address for the facility.  But if you get on 180 then you will eventually get to it and easy to see where to turn to drive up the road.  It is very steep road, and will put a strain on an older vehicle, so be aware of that.

We will meet over near the bathrooms and trailhead.
