Itinerary:
This hike is designed for our members that live south of town to get together after work for a casual hike and take advantage of the remaining daylight before Fall comes. This is a standard nature preserve with numerous paths through the woods. We're going to meet for a moderate level hike and loop around and through some of the interconnected paths for about 1.5 hours or until it gets dark.

The Reynolds Memorial Nature Preserve is conveniently located on the south side of Atlanta, outside 285 and just a couple of miles off I-75 in Morrow. Reynolds Nature Preserve spans 146 acres and contains 4.5 miles of loop paths, each of which is about a half mile long.

A federal grant was received from the Lands and Conservation Fund in 1979 to construct the Interpretive Center as well as piers, bridges, and a pavilion. ...The preserve's primarily hardwood forest boasts ponds, wetlands, streams, designated picnic areas and four miles of well defined foot paths. The paths are laid out in convenient loops which bring visitors back to their starting point.

The preserve's gardens include a heritage vegetable and herb garden featuring varieties from the late 1800's, a butterfly and hummingbird garden, and a native plants garden. The Georgia Native Plants Trail is wheelchair accessible and continues to be paved with engraved bricks, which are available for order in the Nature Center. The Nature Center houses a collection of native amphibians and reptiles as well as an observation honeybee hive and environmental education exhibits. Late 19th and early 20th century farm implements are on display in and near the historic Huie/Reynolds barn.
