Itinerary:

A hike and swim at Jacks River Falls is a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon in August. One of the best swimming holes in the Cohutta Wilderness, Jacks River Falls features plenty of rocks for sunbathing and a cliff for those brave enough to plunge into the water below.  With an upper and lower falls, there is plenty of scenery to enjoy as well.

We will hike the Beech Bottom trail 4 miles downhill to Jacks River, and follow the river for another .6 mile to the falls.  We will make several water crossings before we get to the falls. Once we get to Jacks River Falls, we will have a leisurely lunch and plenty of time to splash and play.

After everyone's had their fill of food and water fun, we will head back up the Beech Bottom Trail to our vehicles. Those who wish to stop for dinner on the way back to Atlanta should plan their carpools accordingly.

Please note that there may be bees along the trail and at the falls. Total elevation gain for this hike is a little over 1000 feet.
