This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Gahuti Trail hikes Fort Mountain’s beautiful backcountry, looping 8.2 miles through remote stretches of this Georgia State Park. The Gahuti  (Cherokee for ‘Mother Mountain’) treks to a beautiful, multi-tier waterfall at Goldmine Branch Creek and passes four campsites on this moderately challenging loop hike. (Credit to: Atlanta Trails.com)

We’ll climb and descend a total elevation change of nearly 4,000 feet (taken from one of the websites so this may not be 100% accurate - that's our disclaimer!)  and our ‘reward’ will be incredible long-range views from multiple overlooks length.

We will find a nice overlook to have our lunch and enjoy the views.

After lunch we will descend towards a mossy, water filled valley and we will be crossing over some creeks, bridges, boulders and trek along a gravel path during the course of this diverse hike. Good hiking boots will come in handy.

Safety first: Liquids are a must: one 16 oz bottle will not be adequate for this hike.  Dehydration is not fun and it does happen!  If you don't bring enough liquids, you won't be able to join us on the hike: no exceptions.

The carpool will leave PROMPTLY at 8 am and the hike will start at 10:15 am.
