Itinerary:

Join us for a day of paddling on Lake Tugaloo. The weather should be perfect, and the leaves will be beautiful.  We will paddle northward on the lake to the bottom of the Chattooga River, where there are small rapids to play in and explore. We will stop for lunch on a sandy beach close by.

We will meet at 9:00 a.m. just before the Jane Hurt Interpretive Center entrance on the right side of the road. Be on the lookout for vehicles with kayaks and canoes. We will follow each other down Stone Place Road to the launch site. If you are worried about your car making it down the gravel road, we can leave a couple of cars at the top and help you transport your kayak down to the lake.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

From the I-85/ I-285 "Spaghetti Junction" Interchange in NE Atlanta take I-85 North to I-985.

Continue North on 985 as it changes to US- 23/441 (approximately 93 miles from downtown Atlanta and 65 miles from Spaghetti Junction).

After entering the City Limits of Tallulah Falls and crossing the bridge over the river, look for the sign leading to the Jane Hurt Yarn Interpretive Center on the right (in Tallulah Gorge State Park).

No need to pay for parking as we will be meeting in front of Interpretive entrance and then venturing approximately 4 miles down a dirt road to the lake.

338 Jane Hurt Yarn Dr, Tallulah Falls, GA 30573

Notes:

Disclaimer: The road from the Interpretive Center to the boat ramp is a four mile dirt and gravel road and is rough in places.  It is identified as requiring 4 wheel drive.  However, we have seen small 2-wheel drive cars make it with no problems.  Weather affects the road, and it is hard to say what the condition will be when we get there.  We can consolidate at the meeting area as much as possible.   Again, it is soft dirt and may be rough in spots; this is not a road for low clearance vehicles.
