Itinerary:

Pretty straight forward, we'll hike from Woody Gap, mile 20 on the Appalachian Trail, to Springer Mountain and head back, 20 miles each day, just to get out and enjoy the woods. Hike as fast or as slow as you like, but we're getting back to Woody Gap by dark on Sunday. We'll camp either at Stover Creek Shelter or Springer Mountain Shelter.

If walking all day doesn't sound like a blast, it might not be the hike for you as there aren't many spectacular views along this section. But there are a few nice streams, waterfalls, and the chance of running into Southbounders as they are completing their hike from Maine.

Required Items to Bring:

Everything you need to comfortably hike 40 miles on the AT and camp out overnight, when temperatures will dip down to around freezing.

Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $42.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
