This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

We will start the hike at the Raven Cliff Falls Trailhead at 10:15am.

The Raven Cliff Trail is 3.3 miles and follows a beautiful, rushing trout stream in a shady, moss-filled forest which ends at Raven Cliff Falls. These Falls are an unusual double cascade flowing down through a fissure in a massive granite outcrop: it consists of three drops, a 60-foot drop, followed by a 20-foot drop into a deep pool, followed by a cascade of 20 feet to Dodd Creek. We will stop at the base of the falls to enjoy this scenic location and have lunch.

For those that want an additional adventure: you can climb up Raven Cliff, which is a rather steep ascent (60 feet) adjacent to the falls overlooking the area. The climb up Raven Cliff is Optional.

After lunch we’ll hike back along the stream to the cars and drive to the Dukes Creek Falls parking lot. The hike to Duke Creek Falls is 1.1 mile downhill (a 400 foot decent) before we get to the base of the falls overlook. The view of this 150 foot waterfall is breathtaking. We’ll stay here for about 20 minutes before departing back up the trail to the trailhead.

Elevation between the two trails will be about 1000 feet with a distance of 8-9 miles.

Parking is limited at the Trail head parking lots, so please car pool. Bring your National Park Annual Pass or Senior Pass otherwise there is a $4 parking fee at Dukes Cliff Falls parking lot but not at Raven.

There are Vault toilets at both locations, but no fresh water.
