Itinerary:

Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield - 5.5 total miles, with elevation changes. We'll hike 5.5 miles from the visitors center to Burnt Hickory road and back along the CCC trail. If you like a long gentle climb and a long gentle descent with a flat return - this one's for you! This hike should offer a lot of diversity in plant life and scenery and some Fall leaf colors - bring a camera. Mountain tops, and creek side views and everything in between.

Hiking boots or trail shoes

75 North to Barrett Parkway (exit 269), turn left onto Barrett Parkway, go 1.9 miles to Old Hwy 41 turn left, go 1.5 miles and turn right onto Stilesboro, the parking lot for the visitors center is on your immediate left. If it is a beautiful day out, parking may be crowded, you can park on the side of the road off of Old Hwy 41, you will see other vehicles parked there.

GPS DIRECTIONS: 900 Kennesaw Mountain Dr NW Kennesaw, GA 30152 This address should get you close to the Visitor Center.

Notes:

PACE - slow to moderate. Think 2.0+/- MPH average. I hike long miles, but I am not going to rush or leave anyone behind. There will be time for taking photos, if you don't linger too long. Think "light weight" when packing - you should be under 12 pounds on total weight. We'll be stopping at all trail intersections, gaps, and road crossings to "collect" the group as we hike and not get stretched out too much (for safety reasons) This is ALMOST a MODERATE trip. If you have questions, sign up and email me. I reserve the right to remove anyone who I feel might not be up to the challenge. If bad weather arrives, we'll reschedule
