Itinerary:

Please read the entire description of this event before signing up! Note that everyone will be added to the waitlist and screened prior to being added to this event. If you have not hiked several D5 or D6s (preferably with the trip leader), this hike is not for you. To ensure that this event is completed as planned everyone will need to be able to move a minimum of 30 miles per day at a swift pace ~2.7-2.8 mph moving average with few stops.  We will be covering 59 miles and over 17,000 ft of elevation gain over our travels.

Trip Itinerary: We will start the event at Woody Gap AT trailhead on hwy 60. Hiking clockwise, we will follow the AT to the  Benton Mackaye trail (BMT) intersection near Three Forks and turn north. For the next 40 miles, we hike on the BMT and Duncan Ridge Trail (DRT). The plan is to cover roughly 30 to 40 miles on day 1 and take a break at a suitable location around 8 or 9 PM for some hot beverage/food (we share a stove to boil water). This is NOT a backpacking trip - we are going ultra-light, might nap briefly but otherwise will be moving most of the time. On day 2, we will start long before sunrise to cover the remaining mileage back to our starting location at Wolfpen Gap. You might want to bring some money for a soda or adult beverage - survivors will go for a well-deserved drink afterwards.
