Itinerary:

Please come join us for Sawnee Mountain with a carpool. If you have been hesitant about doing this hike because of the drive to Cumming, now is your chance. I swear the view from the top of Sawnee is prettier than Kennesaw Mountain and Stone Mountain. We will go at a moderately fast pace. This will be on the fast side for a D2. The view from the top is incredible and well worth the effort.

Carpool departure is 8:50, hike begins promptly at 9:30. Restrooms are likely but not guaranteed.

Located north of Atlanta in Cumming, Georgia, Sawnee Mountain Preserve provides visitors with 963 acres of scenic passive space, hiking trails and an interactive Visitor Center. The Visitor Center serves as the administrative home for the Outdoor Division of Forsyth County Parks and Recreation. There are two visitor's centers, please meet at the Spot Road one.

Visitor Center hours: M-F 8:30 AM-5:00 PM
Preserve hours: S-S 8:00 AM-Dark

We will gather under the front entrance to the Visitor's Center.  We'll pause at the "Indian Seats" and observation deck shortly, We will also make a quick stop at each of the abandoned mine shafts. Hike mileage is 4.1 miles.
