Itinerary:

Cloudland Canyon has some of the most beautiful and scenic views of any of the state parks.

From the main visitor's parking lot, we will  take the 5 mile West Rim Loop Trail where we will be treated to stunning views of the neighboring mountains.  After lunch, we will descend into the gorge for some spectacular views of the Hemlock and Cherokee Falls.  This part of the trail consists of gravel and steps - over 1200 steps in all!!  And yes, we go both up and down these steps!!  Please take this into consideration when signing up for the hike.

Hopefully with the rain we have had this past month, the falls will be overflowing!!

This is a bring your lunch hike and in turn make sure you bring enough liquids since we will be on the trail from10:00 am to 3ish pm.  We should be getting back to the Busbee Park and Ride between 5:00 and 5:30.  Please note that  the hiking and driving timing of the event is an estimation so if making plans for the evening, use the 5:30 as the return time.  Thanks!!

As this is a D4 hike,  the trip leaders may contact you to assess your level of ability and comfort.

Definition of a D4: Moderate to Difficult More challenging elevation gain of 1,500 to 2,500 feet, and/or faster pace: generally 8-10 miles.

Either bring your GA State Park Pass or be prepared to pay the $5.00 State Park Day Pass fee as you enter the park.
