Itinerary:

This is a an in-and-out hike of about 20 miles starting at Patterson Gap and hiking on the Grassy Ridge Trail to the AT at Carter Gap. We will then head northbound on the AT to the top of Albert Mountain. From the fire tower on Albert Mountain there is a magnificent view. On the way back we will head over to Pickens Nose for another great view.

The total elevation gain on this hike is estimated nearer the lower limit of a D6.

Trailhead is on gravel road and 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended. Please let trip leaders know if you are willing to drive. We will carpool as parking space is limited; however, we can regroup in Clayton if carpool location is not convenient for some hikers.

Dogs must be on leash at all times and not interfere with other hikers or dogs.

Note:  The trip leader may contact you to determine your fitness level. The trip leader reserves the right to remove anyone from the list who they feel cannot handle this trip.
