Please join us this Saturday at Kennesaw Mountain for a dayhike that will include a mix of terrain and also a visit to its historic summit.
We will start at the BACK OF THE OVERFLOW LOT on Old 41, so we'll get about a half mile in before the visitor's center (a quick bathroom break is avaiable here if needed) then we'll go along the side of the mountain for another half mile (to get warmed up) before looping back up and over the mountain and down to Burnt Hickory. We'll cross Burnt Hickory, continue across Whitlock/Dallas Hwy, and take a break (SNACK) at the Illinois monument. From there we'll do a loop near the Cheatham Hill parking lot, head back across Dallas Hwy, and take the East Trail across Burnt Hickory onto the Brumby trail, back to the visitor's center and then the overflow lot to finish. We only summit the mountain once on this hike.
There is approximately 1800 ft of elevation gain on this hike and we'll average about a 3.5 mph pace (17 minute miles) for most of the course. This is NOT A BEGINNER HIKE.
The trip leaders will stay together on this hike at a FAST pace. If you are unfamiliar with the course or hiking a fast pace - this might not be for you.
Meet at the BACK OF THE OVERFLOW parking lot on Old 41 (about a half mile from the Visitor's Center)
|How to Get There:|
1) I-75 North to exit 267B Hwy 5 Canton Road Connector
