Itinerary:

Please read the entire page before registering for this event.

This hike will have a total distance of around 12 miles, and total elevation gain of around 2800 feet. We will be hiking at an average pace, and will stop at intersections to regroup (this is not a fast hike).

We will start the hike at Amicalola Falls Visitor's Center, taking the East Ridge Trail to the Top of the Falls parking lot. From there, we will take the the Appalachian Approach Trail to the Hike Inn. At the Hike Inn, we will enjoy a light lunch or snack. Sometimes the Hike Inn has pie, cake and coffee available. If you chose to indulge, then bring cash to put in the donation box in the cafeteria. Plan to pack out your own trash. We will then return on the Hike Inn Trail back to the Top of the Falls parking lot, and then take the East Ridge Trail back to the Visitor's Center.

For carpooling, we will leave Mansell Park & Ride by 8:00 AM. Please arrive earlier. We should arrive to the Visitor's Center around 9:00 AM, and start the hike shortly after. Parking at the Amicalola Falls State Park costs $5 per car, or you can use your Georgia State Parks annual pass.
