Itinerary:
Ok, I'm back in Georgia so it's time for some fall camping! But you say you are tired of tradtional tent pioneer camping?

Looking for something different and unique?

Well, I have got just what you need...
Nestled in the North Georgia mountains just two miles from the Alpine village of Helen, Unicoi is one of Georgias most beloved state parks. The park is 1000+ acres of gorgeous forest with a pristine lake and beach.

We will be camping in the Squirrels Nest area, which is a village of primitive camping structures or platforms (sized 15'x14') on the side of a hill. The Nests themselves are roofed, one backwall and open on 3 sides. Therefore, tents are not needed for this trip. The site has lots of picnic tables, running water, a large fire pit and yes, our own comfort station with sinks, flushing toilets and yes, hot showers!

The itinerary is the same as most pioneer trips...arrive Friday, setup, dinner and a warm fire; Saturday, a hearty breakfast, a short easy hike around the park or to nearby trail or maybe a trip into Helen for lunch and tourist activities, later, dinner and relax around the fire with hot coco and smores and finally; Sunday, breakfast and head for home. Pioneer camping is all about relaxing while enjoying the outdoors and making new friends around the warm glow of the fire. Join us!

NOTE: In an effort to be more environmentally friendly, the AOC will no longer use styrofoam plates or plastic cups. We will recycle all plastics, bottles and cans during our event.
