Easy to Moderate We will meet on Thursday, September 25, to ensure that everyone has the proper gear and to split the community gear amongst the group. Rice Camp trail crosses numerous streams for its first half and as such, is almost always wet and slick. From the trailhead, the trail follows a tributary of Rice Camp Branch until mile 1.1 where the trail follows Rice Camp Branch. At mile 1.9 the trail turns left away from the branch and begins to climb along an old roadbed. At mile 2.7, the trail drops sharply to a small, muddy stream. From there, the trail follows a series of low, dry ridges to where it finally meets the orange-blazed Jacks River. Jacks River Falls is upstream 1.2 miles, on the Jacks River Trail.

How to Get There: | |||||||
Event Directions: | Cohutta Wilderness 10 am at the trailhead Directions: From the intersection of GA 52 and US 411 in Chatsworth, continue north on US 411 for approximately 13.4 miles to Cisco. Turn right on the paved road that is just before the Cisco Baptist Church. This is Old GA 2, also known as FS 16. Continue on FS 16 past where the pavement ends, bearing right at the fork for 7.9 miles. Then turn right on FS 51. Go 4.8 miles to the Rice Camp trailhead and parking area on the left. As you approach the trail, Rice Camp Trail is to the left and East Cowpen Trail is straight ahead. Note: On FS 16, there are two creeks to ford. Note that in wet weather, these fords may be too high for low-clearance vehicles
