Itinerary:
Total Miles - around 20 for both days. This is a South Beyond 6000 Peak Bagging Trip.

NOTE: I need to feel comfortable with your ability to handle steep climbs on bad trails, if you can call them trails. They are almost bushwacks in certain areas. I reserve the right to remove anyone I believe is not up to the challenge.

Day 1 -

Day hike Black Balsam, Tennant, Grassy Cove, and Shining Rock and return to the parking lot. Four Peaks in the SB 6000 program. Time permitting, we'll summit Sam's Knob and add an extra 2 miles to the total mileage this first day. We'll car camp near Waterrock knob.

Day 2 -

We'll meet some guys from the Carolina Mountain Club at Waterrock Knob Parking Lot at 9:00am and hike with them. We'll summit Waterrock Knob, Lynn Lowery, Plotts Balsam and return to the parking lot. From there, we'll cross the road and summit Yellow Face. Four more peaks towards the SB 6000 program.

We'll return late on Sunday night.

Required Items to Bring:
Tent, food, pack, stove, food, clothes, headlamp/flashlight etc. Come prepared to be "self sufficient". I'll bring a water filter, but it would be good if a few more people could bring a filter - just in case. Check the AOC link for suggested backpacking gear for additional gear ideas.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Camera, a "Flexible" attitude. Part of this trip is "explorer".

How to Get There:
Event Directions:We'll be following the GPS instructions for getting to the Blue Ridge Parkway in Great Balsams, then to Waterrock Knob Parking Lot and then back to Mansell. I'll add more car route details after I determine the route.
Carpool to Event Distance (round trip):400Mile(s)
Carpool Departure Time: 8:00 am
Carpool Location:   Log in for location
Carpool Directions:   Log in for directions
Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $160.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:
PACE - fast. Think 2.0+ MPH average. This is AN ADVANCED LEVEL HIKE. If you have questions, sign up and email me. I reserve the right to remove anyone who I feel might not be up to the challenge.
