Come practice your Backpacking with us on Saturday with 8.6 miles and 2 passes over Kennesaw Mountain
I'm pretty sure Tricia will be weighing packs before we start so you better have at least 20 pounds in your pack (backpack or daypack)
We are STARTING IN THE OVERFLOW PARKING LOT, then going over Kennesaw to Burnt Hickory. We'll have a short snack break at Burnt Hickory before going out to the East Trail / New Salem Trail around and back to the base of the mountain before going over the mountain again, then past the Visitor's Center and back to our cars.
Go at your own pace if you'd like on this hike. Your trip leaders will wait for everyone at a few points along the way and again at the finish, but feel free to set your own pace that's comfortable for you. The purpose of this hike is getting used to carrying weight while hiking with elevation. Our packs are normally at least 30 lbs so this is a warm up for the real deal.
If you're a joker (and some of you are) don't plan to empty out 20 lbs of sand or water on the way up so you look like a stud flying up the mountain. Tricia will beat you silly... and then laugh at you on the real backpacking when you're crying. You know if I'm talking to you...
|How to Get There:|
1) I-75 North to exit 267B Hwy 5 Canton Road Connector
