Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Ever want to sail? Do you have experience? If you don't have experience, do you want to learn?

Here is your chance from skilled to the person that doesn't even know what a Jib is.

Arrive at the Little Ridge Boat Ramp, sail, swim, help step the mast, learn a little sailing and hopefully catch a cat's paw or 2. Set up takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, and I am glad to walk anyone through this. I will Captain and be the helmsman unless I feel someone has enough experience to take the helm, but there is plenty of work and fun to be had. This is very relaxed and I am very patient at showing anyone the lines, sheets, and Davy Jones Locker; if a keelhauling is deserved. ;)

To help step the mast it takes being able to lift 35 to 50 lbs above your head or rest the mast on your shoulder one time. It is fairly easy and I can do (and prefer to do) most of the heavy lifting.

Member Cost:$10.00/Person
Cost Includes:

The 10 dollar per person will be paid in cash to the tripleader before the event. This cost helps to cover a very small portion of the fuel costs of trailering the boat and maintenance costs of maintaining a sailboat.  Yup, Luana is no cheap date! Please be understanding for this request, but contact the trip leader if you are unable to afford the 10 dollars.

Make a Payment:Although there is a cost for this event, you do not pay through the AOC. Please review the event details carefully for information about how/where to make your payment.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:   Please review the AOC cancellation policy.
*Note:

This event may or may not continue depending on the severity of the weather. Lightning may delay or cancel the event and updates will be provided asap. By canceling one day on multi day listings, this may cause multiple days to be canceled. Please be flexible and the Tripleader will do his best to respect your time! PLEASE have your contact information current so last min contact can be made if issue arrise.

There MUST be a min of 2 people to hold the event and the Tripleader counts as one. The other attendee must be able to lift 50 lbs and must be willing to work the sails. The Tripleader will offer all instruction and is very patient and calm in instruction. This min attendance requirement will be maintained due to the required number of people to rig or de-rig the boat. The Tripleader must count on the other person 100%. Due to the nature of sailing no more than 4 total will be on the boat when sailing. Waitlisters will be added in order as space becomes avalible.
