Itinerary:

We will start off on The Sope Creek Trail that goes through a predominantly deciduous forest, rolling over moderate elevation changes along dirt and gravel trails. The Sope Creek Trail connects to the popular Cochran Shoals trail.

Cochran Shoals Trail: We will only be on the gravel path for about ¼ mile before we head back into the woods. This trail will take us to the Powers Ferry/Interstate North trails.

The Powers Ferry/Interstate North Trail is one of the lesser-traveled trails of Atlanta’s Chattahoochee National Recreation Area. Serene and sometimes deserted, this quiet hiking and running trail loops through a beautiful riverside forest. The trail explores an island, an inlet, and the banks of the shoaling Chattahoochee River

At the Powers Ferry trail, we will loop around and head back through the 3 Parks, but on different trails until we reach the Sope Creek parking lot.

I consider this an easy D3 since the elevation gain is estimated to be 700 feet but we will be going at a moderate pace with a total mileage of 9 miles.

Parking fee is $3 dollars at Sope Creek, unless you have a Park Pass. Parking tickets can be purchased at the parking lot.

We will leave PROMPTLY at 8:30 am.

There are no Restrooms at the Sope Creek parking lot.

Two dogs will be allowed: they must be signed up and be on a leash at all times in accordance with the Park rules.

As always, do not leave any valuables in your car or trunk due do potential car vandalism.
