Itinerary:

BEGINNERS LEVEL AND NEW MEMBERS WELCOME!

This is a great hike around the lake at Murphey Candler Park in the Dunwoody area. The temp. will be in mid 60sF. with few showers. The nature trail is a 1.8 mi. loop around the lake with very little elevation change. The trail is wooded on the North and West sides and more open on the East and along the Southern levee (E. Nancy Creek Rd.). The nature trail will take us over a wooden foot bridge and over a few sections of uneven ground. The lake is home to Canadian geese, mallards, turtles, egrets, beavers and the common chipmunks and squirrels.

Murphey Chandlre park is a 135-acre park owned and operated by Dekalb County Parks and Recreation. It has athletic fields, children's palyground, a lake with fishing area, swimming pool, hiking trail and picnic facilities.

The park is located inside the perimeter, just South of Perimeter Mall, between Ashford-Dunwoody and Chamblee- Dunwoody roads.
