Itinerary:

Join me for a fun in and out hike for the last Georgia Section of the AT. This 18 mile hike will take us to the GA/NC border where we will stop for lunch and continue a little bit further to the knarly tree before turning around and coming back the way we came to our cars.

I will allow up to 2 well behaved dogs on this hike.

This is not a beginner hike, you will need to be fit and able to maintain a steady pace of greater than 2.5 miles per hour. The trip leader will contact you if he has any doubts about your fitness level.

I plan to stop in Clayton on the way home to grab some food.

Required Items to Bring:

Boots
Food - lunch/snacks
Spare pairs of socks
Water/sports drink - at least 2.5 litres (or if you carry a filter you can filter from the creek)
Change of clothes for the ride home
Cash for the carpool driver

From Indian Trail Park and Ride, go north on I-85

Merge in to left lanes and continue on I-985

I-985 will turn into US-23 N/US-441 N/GA-15

In Clayton, turn left onto U.S. 76 towards Hiawassee

Drive about 18 miles to trailhead on the right
