Itinerary:

Challenge Yourself with a 11 mile hike or a 21 mile hike!

It is so wonderful to have such an awesome mountain close to Atlanta that we can use for hiking and training.  With this in mind, I would be thrilled if you would like to join me to hike the beautiful Kennesaw Mountain on Sunday! Kennesaw Mountain is know for its history, steep elevations, wildlife, beautiful views that overlook the city and awesome trails. The mountain trail trails are perfect for increasing endurance for distance hikes. Because the trails are easy to navigate and loop back to the visitor's center, we have choices for the distance of the hike (11 miles great hike or 21 miles great hike: challenging).

With this in mind, we are starting at the visitor's center and will head straight up Big Kennesaw Mountain then continue up to Little Kennesaw Mountain,  cross over Burnt Hickory, Pigeon Hill,  part of  Knobs farm trail and loop  back to the visitors center to complete our  first 11 miles hike (elevation gains around 2600 ft). You can stop here for a break or if you are one of the 11-mile hikers this is where your hike ends.

For those of you who want to go the distance (21 miles),  you will be pleasantly suprised at how much fun and fast it will goes!  After our short break (bathroom break and snack break: 15 minutes), we are off again to hike our last 10 miles. While the hike is streneous and challenging with very few short breaks, you will feel very accomplished after completing the hike and defintely want to do it again!

This is no walk in the park as we will be moving fast with few breaks (mid-point short lunch break), and plan to maintain hike speeds of 3.0 to 3.5.

It is going to be fun,  challenging and rewarding hike (This is not a trail running event only hiking). For those who would like a greater challenge and not sure if you can handle 21-miles sign-up and see what you think after the first 11 miles.  For those who want to hike Kennesaw Mountain and get some miles sign-up and complete the 21-mile hike. Either distance for the hike, will be with a great group of hikers at a wonderful park!

You must have hiked at least two D4s or a D5 to register for this event! (Email me,  if you would like to join the hike,  but do not have the required d4 or d5 experience in the AOC and feel that you can do the hike.  For those without the required d4 or d5 experience, I will consider your registration only if you contact me first.)

I hope that you will join me for this hike!
