This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Come join us for a great North Carolina Appalachian Trail Slackpack event (mile 100-150 on the trail).  No backpacks required, only daypacks.  We'll stay at a lodge each night and be shuttled to/from our hiking locations each day.

Everyone will be put on the wait list initially - as we are vetting everyone to make sure we have a group that can complete this event and make it enjoyable for all.  If you don't have recent D5/D6 experience on your record - you can expect lots of questions and you should plan to prove yourself by hiking with the trip leaders ASAP.  There are some tough days on this hike and we want everyone to have a great experience with no drama.  Everyone's speed will NOT have to be fast.  We'll probably be in 2 different groups.

This is our daily hike plan:

Wednesday: Travel to the lodge in the evening

Thursday: Albert Mountain to Wayah Gap 15 miles

Friday: Wayah Gap to Telico Gap 14 miles

Saturday: Stecoah Gap to NOC 13 miles

Sunday: Telico Gap to NOC 8 miles

Once a majority of our group is in place we'll discuss meals.  We will have access to a kitchen to cook and there are restaurants in the area as well.  For the meals we plan to eat out - you can certainly elect to cook in if you prefer - so there are options if your diet has certain requirements.

Important information for paid events in which payment is managed through the AOC:

     - Payment must be received by the payment due date and prior to participation in the event.

     - Some paid events require a minimum number of registered participants. If that number is not met, the event will be canceled and refunds will be issued to those who have already paid.

     - No partial payments. All registrants must pay the posted Member Cost regardless of any agreement you may have with any party involved in the event.
