Itinerary:
The main focus of this event is an "out and back" hike of the 4.75 mile Stoneplace Trail at Tallulah Gorge State Park. We will stop for a long lunch break at Tugalo Lake. We will also take the High Bluff Trail mini-loop on the way back (2 miles). These two combined should be roughly 11 miles total.

After the main hike, we will walk down the North Rim Trail (less than a mile) to view scenic Tallulah Gorge from numerous overlooks. Co-leader Kevin has offered to take part of the group down the steps to swinging bridge near the bottom of the gorge, so anyone who is working on earning their "Canyon Climbers Club" T-shirt can join him...this part of the hike is purely optional though, and co-leader Tony will be leading the rest of the group around the North Rim Trail at this time.

The Stoneplace Trail has approximately 800 feet of elevation change over its 4.75 miles. It is mostly downhill on the way out, so uphill on the way back. The High Bluff Trail only has about 150 feet of elevation change.

We will be hiking at a pretty good pace...at least 3.0 mph because the trail is wide and not too strenuous...but that faster pace is why this is categorized as a D4 and not a D3.

Note: This is technically an "Explorer" trip because the trip leader has not hiked this trail before...however we will have a good map and GPS and don't expect to have any major navigational issues along the way.

It is forecast be a beautiful day on Sunday with superb hiking weather, so we should have a great time out there on the trail.
