Join us for a great hike in the Jones Gap State Park, South Carolina, this 11,000-acre park is full of woodlands, waterfalls and excellent trails.

We will start the hike near the old fish hatchery pool, from there we will take Jones Gap Trail for approximately 5 miles, branching off on the Tom Miller Trail for 0.7 miles to the Raven Cliff Falls parking lot on US276.

Taking a brief stop at the Raven Cliff falls parking lot we will hike to the Raven Cliff Falls overlook for another 2.2 miles taking in the excellent views along the way.

After eating lunch at the overlook we will backtrack to the Raven Cliff Falls parking lot and then take the Cold Spring Branch Trail (approx. 1 mile) until it connects onto the Cold Spring connector trail. Following the cold spring connector trail for 0.5 miles, we will turn onto the Frank Coggins trail and follow that from around a ½ mile until we reach a bridge overlook a nice waterfall.

From here on the fun begins, following the Rim of the Gap trail for 4.2 miles back to the cars. This very challenging and exciting trail has 3 miles of very technical up and down hiking, crawling and squeezing as we follow the Rim trail to the top of the ridge. When we have finished this exciting fun stretch we will descend 1.2 miles back to the cars and a much deserved cold drink.

Bring a camera to take photos of the many great waterfalls we will see on this hike.

This is a strenuous hike with some tough technical sections and you should be in good physical condition to be able to complete it. Your trip leader(s) may contact you to see if you are physically able to complete this event.

This is NOT a beginner hike.

Water or Sports drink, at least 3 liters
Enough food to keep your energy level up on a 6 or 7 hour hike
Hiking boots or shoes
Clothing appropriate for the weather
