Itinerary:
DO NOT MISS THIS AWESOME ADVENTURE!

This trip is rated a D5 because of weather, elevation gain and the fact it's a 3 day trip. We will NOT be moving at a fast pace.

How about some Virgin forest over 200 years old? 360 degree views from the top of Stratons Bald? Not enough you say....Fine! How about the infamous Hangover Ledge and its views or Wildcat Falls and the Slickrook Creek! We will also be visiting places like Big Fodderstack, Rockstack, and Chestnut Knob.

This will be a 3 day medium pace trip. We will not be flying over terrain but enjoying it as we hike along.

Trip Details:

Leave Friday and drive to the Joyce Kilmer-Slickrock Wilderness. We will start in the Memorial section where the Virgin Forests still exist today. We will hike through this section stopping to examine the anchient trees which are up to 6' ACROSS!. From here we will hike along the Little Santeelah Creek to Naked Ground and our first nights camp. 5-6 miles of Hiking.

Saturday: We will break camp and head south to Bob Straton Bald with our first 360 degree veiw. After taking in the sights here we journey along the Slickrock and Citico Creek Wilderness boundaries north to visit Chestnut Knob, Rockstack, and Big Fodderrstack. After hiking along the ridge we then head down into the valley towards camp at Slickrock Creek where we will make camp and then take a short hike north along the creek to Wildcat Falls. There are a few creek crossings here so bring water shoes, it will be chilly! 9 miles of hiking, this includes the hike to the falls.

Sunday: We will break camp and head East following the Big Fat Branch Trail out of the valley and head towards HANGOVER! We will drop packs take a nice break and enjoy the views at HANGOVER until its too chilly. Then we head south-east back to the parking area and drive home to Atlanta. 8 miles of hiking.

We will stop for dinner on the way home. It will be a group decision of fast food or stop n eat.
