Itinerary:

Come join us as we continue our exploration of the Hooch.  We'll meet by the boat ramp at the Abbotts Bridge unit of the CRNRA (entrance is next to The Rock Yard at 4569 Abbotts Bridge Rd, Duluth, GA  30097. We'll drop our boats and shuttle cars to the take out at Garrard Landing Park, 8000 Holcomb Bridge Rd, Alpharetta, GA 30022.  Please be on time, as this shuttle will be 45 minutes round trip, and we want to be on the water as close to 9:30 a.m. as possible.

We’re looking forward to exploring a new section of the Hooch.  Some points of interest along this paddle are the St. Ives Country Club, the Atlanta Athletic Club, the Medlock Bridge unit of the CRNRA and one of the largest estates in metropolitan Atlanta (a 17 acre property originally known as Dean Gardens, home of Larry Dean and sold to Tyler Perry, and just recently sold to David Turner, former businessman and now evangelist).  Additional points of interest include the Jones Bridge unit of the CRNRA and McAfee’s Bridge as well as several fish weirs.

At about 6 miles into our paddle we will stop for a break at the Jones Bridge unit of the CRNRA on river right.

There are restroom facilities available at Abbotts Bridge, Jones Bridge and Garrard Landing Park.  Parking at Gerrard Landing (take-out) is free, however CRNRA parking fees will apply to any vehicles remaining at Abbotts Bridge. [CRNRA Daily Park Pass - $3, CRNRA Annual Park Pass - $35]
