Itinerary:
So here I go again, time to go out in to the woods and hike some miles and then hang out. So I chose Pine Mountain, which this time of year is always a good time. We will met at 8:00am at the carpool and then depart to FDR state park. Should take hour and half to get there to the park office to get our passes. Once that is done we will drive to Dowdell Knob parking lot/trailhead and leave some of our vehicles. We will then pile into the other cars and drive to the eastern terminus of the trail at WJSP TV on GA85. There we will park the rest of the cars and start our trip! We will hike past Dry falls, Csonka falls, Big Rock falls, Slippery Rock falls, Cascade falls, the Wolfden. Then keep going past Old Sawmill campsite and Bumblee Ridge Campsite. We will stop for the night at Sassafras Hill campsite. The mileage that day will be about 4.7 miles. The next day we will continue our hike down the trail past Rocky Point, Spark Creek campsite, Hornet Knob, Brown Dog campsite and Brown dog Bluff. We will then come up to Dowdell Knob Trailhead where some of our cars await. We will then take those cars back to the start of the trail and get the rest and make our way back to Atlanta. The last day miles will be about 3.9. The elevation change will be small and the most change will be on day 1.
