Itinerary:

We will be meeting at the Indian Trail entrance NOT Whitewater Creek.  Again, Indian Trail.

The rugged granite palisades were called the Devil's Stairsteps during the 19th century by river boatmen because the shoals "were the devil" to navigate. We will hike at a moderate pace both along the river and inland for about 4.5 to 5 miles of the trails.  If you've wanted to hike at East Palisades but can't handle a fast pace, come along! We will be going up the Big Awesome Hill (BAH) as well as out to the bamboo forest.  Don't let this challenge scare you off; we'll go at a slow pace up the climb, taking as many stops to rest as needed.

Please note that the Indian Trail entrance to the park has a long gravel road that should be navigated at a very slow speed to minimize the chance of hitting a pot hole.   And remember to bring $3 cash for the National Park Service parking fee, unless you have a Chattahoochee NRA annual pass.
