Itinerary:

East Palisades is one of the most beautiful and unique of all the CRNRA units. The Park has several miles of trails that connect to a scenic overlook that offers excellent views of the Devil's Racecourse Shoals; there is bamboo forest that we will walk through and a few nice rock outcroppings.

We will hike at a moderate pace, but we will stop to enjoy the scenery and hydrate.

We'll start the hike PROMPTLEY at 9:00 am. Please arrive 10 minutes early to get settled and for introductions.

If you don't have an NRA car pass, you will need $3 in cash to pay for the parking fee at the park.

Do not leave any valuables in your car or trunk since vandalism has been known to happen. 

There are no restrooms at this location.

We will be meeting at the INDIAN TRAIL parking lot

As a special bonus we have been given special permission to increase the usual registration # of 20 to 25, because this is a very spcial pre-volunteer hike event..YAY!

Optional REI Event: Red Brick Brewing and REI 

At 12:30 we are planning to make our way to the REI Red Brick Brewing Event for more fun and outdoor adventure. This is an event that we are very excited to participate in. It is an all out event in which REI and the Red Brick Brewing Company are hosting this event to help outdoor adventurers reach their ourdoor goals. There will be indoor rock climbing, hiking , moutain biking, and paddling instructions.  Additionally, there will be food and drinks for this event. This event is FREE for REI members up to the first 200 and then $10 and $12 for non-REI members. Go to the site and sign up   http://www.rei.com/events/all-ou-2017-at-red-brick-brewing/atlanta/164040.  Your ticket gets you 6 pours, four oz each of different beers to sample.

From eastbound Interstate 285

  • Take exit 22, Northside Drive, New Northside Drive, and Powers Ferry Road.
  • Right on Northside Drive to Powers Ferry Road.
  • Go through Intersection at Powers Ferry Road and 1.1 Miles to Indian Trail.
  • Right On Indian Trail and will dead end at the unit's entrance.

 

From westbound Interstate 285

  • Take exit 22, Northside Drive, New Northside Drive, and Powers Ferry Road.
  • Straight to the second traffic light.
  • Left onto Northside Drive to Powers Ferry Road.
  • Go through the intersection at Powers Ferry and 1.1 miles to Indian Trail.
  • Right on Indian Trail and will dead end at the unit's entrance
