This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Here's an easy backpacking trip on the Chattooga River Trail.

Its a new spot for us to spend the night - but simple to get to.

We'll park at the trailhead on Earl's Ford Rd where the Bartram Trail crosses.  We'll hike approximately 2 miles downstream to camping areas along the river.  We may need to hike a little further depending on what is available, since you can't reserve a camping site.

After setting up camp, and perhaps a bite to eat, we plan to hike another couple miles downstream to check out Dick's Creek Falls.  I hear there are fish in the river, so if someone wants stick around camp to catch them, we will help eat some trout.

In the evening, we plan on having a fire, and perhaps make some music, while we try to stay up late and enjoy a winter's night.

On Sunday, we'll have breakfast and enjoy the area before breaking camp. Mornings in the mountains are awesome - no need to hurry back to the city. However, if you arrange it at the carpool, you're free to leave as early as you want with your carpool group. Hard to get lost on this trail...it's just there and back.

There will be a 2 dog limit. Must be friendly and well behaved. Expect to drive your own car if you bring your dog.

Leave no trace, paper products only to be burned in fire.

Arrange with trip leaders or other friends PRIOR to event if you plan to/need to share any equipment.
