Itinerary:
LOCATION AND DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED TO SANDROCK, AL ON SUNDAY DUE TO RAIN.
Mt. Yonah seeps for several days after a hard rain. Sandrock dries out faster. We'll meet at the Busby Park and Ride off I-75 at Chastain Rd (Exit 271) at 8:00am. From there, we'll drive over to Sandrock (about a 2 hour drive). We'll climb from about 10 till 4, then head back to Atlanta, and probably grab dinner on the way back. It will likely be a little chilly. Weather forecast is calling for a high of 55. So please bring warm clothes....coat, gloves, hat, maybe long underwear.

Required Items to Bring:
Prior experience is recommended, indoor climbing or outdoor climbing. Participants must bring their own harness, climbing shoes, and helmet. We do not have any extra gear!
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
2-3 liters of water
lunch
snacks
climbing gear listed above
belay device and locking carabiner
hiking poles
I will bring a first aid kit

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $73.60 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:
Warning: Climbing is inherently dangerous and carries with it a significant risk of personal injury or death. The Atlanta Outdoor Club does not recommend that anyone participate in any dangerous activity, including climbing, unless they first obtain qualified and personal instruction, are knowledgeable about the risks involved, and are willing to personally assume all responsibility associated with those risks. Although the trip leaders do have prior climbing experience, you understand that by signing up for this trip, you are responsible for your own safety and well-being and release the Atlanta Outdoor Club, its members and directors, and the trip leaders from all liability.
